The Way I View | Motherhood

Well, this is not quite what I had in mind for this theme but I have learnt that when it comes to life what you anticipate and what you get can be two entirely different things.  Today I gave my daughter my favourite childhood doll.  My favourite colour has always been red and my grandmother had this doll made for me by one of her friends.  I aptly named her Red.

To me what is so special about motherhood is passing along what is important to us.   Poor old Red is a bit worse for wear these days but she is the only physical thing that I held onto from my childhood.  Freya tried to be impressed.  She really did.  She told me that she would look after her and let her snuggle in bed with her.  But I can tell already that Freya is probably not going to love her in the way that I did... and that is okay.   To me motherhood is sharing what is important to us but ultimately accepting and embracing the fact that our children will forge their own journey.

As with every month, I would encourage you to click through our blog circle to see everyone's interpretations of the theme. First stop is Lily's blog.

  1. Really love your insight and perspective on this! It is true...I can see how things that I loved growing up may not be my kids favorite things. I think someday, she will realize the special emotion centered around that doll and truly love it because it will remind her of you! Really sweet and precious photographs too!
